Now is the time to start planning for radios to take with you when operating
portable or camping next summer.  A low power radio could also serve as an
emergency backup in case we lose electrical service.

Here are a few sources of low power radios suitable for backpack, camping, and
portable operation.  Some of these are kits suitable for beginning to
intermediate builders:

Arizona Sqrpions:  http://www.azscqrpions.com/

Elecraft:  http://www.elecraft.com/

Hendricks QRP Kits:  http://qrpkits.com/

MFJ Enterprises:  http://www.mfjenterprises.com/

Small Wonder Labs:  http://www.smallwonderlabs.com/

TenTec:  http://www.tentec.com/

Wilderness Radio:  http://www.fix.net/~jparker/wild.html

W0CH QRP Site - many low power radios and links:

Another page with considerable QRP information:

Yaesu FT-817 (very popular):

If you just want to listen, AES and HRO have assembled, portable, shortwave
receivers:  http://www.aesham.com/    http://www.hamradio.com/

Amazon has a selection of QRP books - although some of the prices are outrageous:

And don't be afraid of building a kit.  I will help anyone get their kit
working.  Just check with me before you order the kit.

BE PREPARED!

Tis the Season!.. Not it's not Christmas time already, but with multiple community events and emergency drills looming on the horizon, it is time to check the dates of your CPR, First-Aid and other certifications that may have lapsed or be close to expiring, and renew them as needed.
